This
winter and spring, I’ve largely been woodshedding it (to use the musicians’ term), working on two new books: the next
integrated book of photography & prose, Being the Storm’s Eye; and a novel entitled Liquid Embraces. I will soon emerge
with a weekend of events at The Spirit Moves, at

Friday, June 15, 8 p.m. – A Wild Grace kirtan, merging Shantala’s creative spirit with mine. Shantala’s beautiful chant music combines sacred lyrics, soul-stirring vocals, and
exotic instrumentation into a musical celebration of spirit, carrying
participants through chant into a state of heightened awareness, bliss, and
devotion. Integrated with Benjy's Indian classical
singing and instrumentation and Heather's soaring vocals will be my words,
photographs and meditations from Wild
Grace, as well as meditations and images from my forthcoming book, Being the Storm’s Eye.

Saturday, June 16th – Both Shantala and I will teach three hour workshops, again at The Spirit Moves in
From
10 a.m.-1 p.m., I will offer my workshop,
entitled Bringing Wild Grace to Life. Through everything from guided
meditation to indoor and outdoor exploration, workshop participants learn to
look deeply into the nature inside their own lives, and to use it to
transform their relationship to the world around them. The workshops include
such elements as seeing everything as nature, finding stillness inside the
busy, exploring the nature of purpose, and understanding earth care as health
care. Given the times around us, we’ll also explore the nature of peace
and conflict.
Then, from 3 p.m.-6 p.m., Shantala will offer their workshop Nada Samudra: The Ocean of Devotional Sound, exploring the ancient sacred arts of singing, devotional chant, and
rhythm. Workshop participants learn to open their voices more fully as a
sacred instrument, deepen their experience of chanting and devotion (bhakti yoga), playfully explore the body as a vehicle for
rhythm, create a joyful experience of music and
spirit in community with others. This workshop is offered with the intention of
cultivating more beauty and more love inside ourselves,
in our communities, and throughout our world. “It is our prayer that
the practices and experiences offered here will help each one of us to give
ourselves more fully to realizing this vision,” say Benjy &
Heather.
Participants may take either or both workshops, with a discount
given for participation in both. Each $45 at the door, or $70 for both.
